The No. 6B flash bulb is a specialized flash bulb designed to work well with focal plane shutters on medium format cameras up to 6x9cm and speeds of 1/100 and faster. It has an extended peak duration lasting from about 20ms to 40ms to facilitate the travel time of shutter curtains. It has a peak of only about 320,000 lumens, sacrificing brightness for duration.
Because clear bulbs were designed for use with black and white films, the "B" style bulbs such as the 6B were designed with a blue coating to assist in color correction when using flash with color films. Because of this coating, these bulbs may operate with 1/2 to 1 stop less light output as their clear counterparts.
